U14’s bags the points

Joeys U14’s hosted St Annes in a late afternoon kickoff, which turned out to be a very entertaining game of football. From the start Joeys pushed forward and created some nice chances but were denied by a strong St Annes defence. Despite having the better first half the game was still 0-0 at the break. Following the break Joeys continued to put pressure on the St Annes defence which finally paid off with Cian Shannon finding the back of the net, in what was to be the only goal of the game. Each team had their chances in the second half and credit to both sides for a wonderful game. A great team effort by all Joeys players including Brian McGrath, Ryan Cotter, Jacob O’Brien and Paddy Regan.

U11’s Nurney 1 – St Joseph’s 4

Team Numbers Down to The Wire

On a cold and very windy day in Nurney St Josephs numbers were down to the wire with only 10 players. Joeys played with the wind in the first half and started well. The wind played havoc with ball ,but finally Joeys broke the dead lock with a nice goal from Conor. The second half Nurney came into the game and put Joeys under pressure but the back line and goalie kept them out. Before long Jack scored his first after some good work from the right when Evan left the ball to him to slot home. The second goal from Jack was created by Conor who slotted the ball into his path. The last was slotted in by Evan after a mix up by the goalie.
Today Jacob impressed at right back, Fiac at CM who has just returned from a long lay off.  Watching from the side line today was Cillian who has been injured for the last few weeks. Overall a tough game but well played by everyone.
