U14’s show their true potential

From the kick off St Josephs went out with a point to prove. Where with other games they could have done with a bit of luck, in this game they made all their own. With a number of positional changes and excellent passing moves they had the Hacketstown defence under pressure from the start. Joeys opened the scoring, from a corner, an intelligent flick on from Evan McGuire left the Hacketstown goalie flat footed. This was quickly followed by 2 well taken goals from Daniel Giedraitis. With Sam Byrne taken down in the box, Evan McGuire slotted home the resulting penalty. 4-0 half time. In the 2nd half Joeys continued to dominate the game but the visitors didn’t give up and scored 2 goals early on. Joeys added another 3 goals, Cormac O’Briens hard work and persistence paid off when he scored 2 crackers and the final goal came from a well struck corner from captain Ciaran O’Hagan. In a game like this it was hard to pick out best players as it was a whole team effort from all 14 players, Joe Walton (goal), Brian McGrath, Ryan Cotter, Jacob O’Brien, Jack Murphy, Paul Dermody, Paddy Regan, Ciaran O’Hagan, Evan McGuire, Sam Byrne, Daniel Nolan, Rory Guerin, Cormac O’Brien, and Daniel Giedraitis.
