U12 Majors Continue Unbeaten Run

A good game played on a wet day in Tinryland, where St Joseph’s started brightly, getting an early goal from Sinead Thompson. Crettyard got back into the game on the stroke of half time, before going ahead early in the second half. St Joseph ‘s got back on level terms via a well taken Alan Bohanna goal. Crettyard took the lead again before Bohanna scored his second from the penalty spot after Jonah Webb was fouled. Incredibly, Crettyard edged ahead again, into what looked like a winning lead, however St Joseph’s again showed their indomitable spirit to level late on after a superb move led to a rocket into the top corner from the fantastic Kate McDonald. Joey’s U12 Premier League Come Out on Top in Local Derby

On a wet and windy morning in St Joseph’s the bad weather did not hamper the U12s local derby, where Joey’s hosted Nurney. The home team settled first and created chances from the start, with both Josh Donegan and Franciszek Slavatycki unlucky not to score. It wasn’t long before Joey’s opened the scoring when Jack Dunne broke from the wing to find the back of the net. With both sides playing good football it was Nurney who broke through and Kevin Kavanagh  scored the equaliser. Just before half time Joey’s won a free kick which was confidently converted by Mark Mullen, leaving it 2-1 at the break. The second half saw more chances for the home team with shots from Evan McAteer and Kate McDonald. Joey’s third came when Alan Bohanna broke through the defence to rattle the back of the net. Joey’s final of the day came from a great shot from outside the box by Jack Dunne. The solid defence of Cian McGuire, Jacob Traynor, Mark Mullen and keeper Ruairi Scully made it difficult for the visitors. However, they never gave up and Kevin Kavanagh went onto score a second to leave it 4-2 at the final whistle. Best players for St. Joseph’s mentioned above. Best for Nurney Goalscorer Kevin Kavanagh (2) , Conor Meaney, Darragh Cummins and Ryan Jeffares.

Emphatic Win for 16s V Baltinglass

On a cold morning in Parkmore Joey’s played Baltinglass which resulted in a great win with a record amount of goals scored for this team.  The 1st came after only 57 secs when a well struck free from the corner by Evan McGuire hit of a defenders head and went in.  The second was well taken by Cathal O’Neill 2 mins later and the 3rd was again a free kick by McGuire. With Joey’s controlling midfield and creating innumerable chances Cathal O’Neill wrapped up a hat trick before half time. Eoin Woods was again menacing down the wing and was rewarded with a goal before half time   H/T 0-6.   Baltinglass to their credit battled on but with Luke Hickey between the posts and the solid defence of Ted Brophy, Sean Rourke, Jack Murphy and Jacob O’Brien, they were unable to find a way through. Substitutes Kostya Cahill and Daniel Giedraitis continued the scoring with Kostya getting his hat trick for the day. Brother Pavel wasn’t to be left out and also hit the back of the net. Cathal added another before it finished up 0-12.  As well as those mentioned above best players were Cian Shannon, Rory Guerin, Daniel Nolan , Sam Byrne and Ciaran O’Hagan.

Joey’s U12s Major League Make it 2 Out of 2 Wins

St Joseph’s v Hanover Harps Red
A great game between two evenly matched teams played in crisp conditions ended with St Joseph’s continuing their recent improvement. In a tight first half the superb Sean Murphy tucked away neatly to put St Joseph’s ahead at half time. Similarly, in the second half Joseph”s got the only goal to deservedly take the points from a gallant Hanover Harps team with a great finish from the redoubtable Conor Bowe. Best for Hanover were Adam Seger, Ned Williams and Paul Gray. Difficult to single out any players for Joseph”s in a superb team performance but Jouzas Ciolidis was superb again. Conor Bowe, Jonah Webb, Eva Doyle and Sarah Nolan were fantastic along with great performances from Sinead Thompson, Orla Woods and Daire O’Sullivan. Conall McGuire was excellent in keeping a great clean sheet while Alex Farrell, Peter Whelan and Michael Keane put in great shifts.
