U12’s great defence not enough

St Joseph’s U12’s this morning hosted a physically stronger St Pats side. A closely contested first half, with great defensive play by the St Joseph’s defenders Daniel Donegan, Jack Murphy, Pavel Cahill & Kalum Pawley and keeper Evan McGuire, saw St Pats open the scoring after 20 mins. This was followed by two more goals from offside play before the whistle blew ending the first half.

The visitors scored another 3 in the second half but close to the end Joey’s got one back with a well taken cross into the box and finished by Daniel Donegan.

Great play from the whole team including Joe Walton, Aodhan Breathnach, Daniel Giedraitis, Daniel Nolan, Patrick Regan, Sinead Hayden, Jonah Dunne and Brian McGrath.

Final Score 1 – 6.

Josephs ladies add to their winning streak

St Joseph’s came out on top in a tough match in Tinryland on Sunday. Joseph’s started best and had a great chance when Andrea Jeaney let rip from 30 yards and hit the crossbar. 5 minutes later Elaine Ware had a great chance but the crossbar was in the way again. Finally Joseph’s broke the deadlock when Aoibhin Webb was put through by Ware and Webb finished brilliantly. Webb got her second when there was a mix up in the box and she fired into the top corner to make it 2-0. Joseph’s got another when Webb turned provider and Emma O’Regan was put through and finished brilliantly into the bottom corner to make it 3-0 at Half Time.

Grange came out fighting in the second half and put huge pressure on the Josephs defenders. Joseph’s broke against the run of play when Christine Scully put Webb through to complete her Hat-Trick. Grange took over once again when Kellie Nolan was put through and cooly finished to make it 4-1. Grange then won a penalty when Claire Ivers slotted home to make it 4-2. That was the end of the Grange attack and the Josephs’s defence held on for a well deserved victory.

Best for Joseph’s were Siobhan Walsh, Aisling Lyons, Aoibhin Webb and Christine Scully

Best for Grange were Kellie Nolan and Claire Ivers
