ST. JOSEPHS LIFT CUP IN STYLE

This was a top drawer performance from a great team who came back from a recent poor league run to play four rounds of cup football and dominate the final running out 4-1 winners. St Joe’s started strongly and were rewarded with a Kostya Cahill goal after 5 mins. New Oak hit back on 15 mins with a great free kick to level matters. St Josephs kept pressing forward through the mid-field with both front men Jack Mitchell and Kostya Cahill coming close on a few occasions. In the second half St Joe’s kept the pressure on New Oak and were awarded a penalty which Thomas Sheehan converted. Throughout the match St Josephs’ defence of Jordan Fitzgerald Agar, Jack Holmes, Padraig O’Connor and Sean Rourke stood firm and let nothing through. After 45 mins New Oak cleared their line only to see Dinny Farrell hit a great shot from 25 yards which finished in the back of the net. This was shortly followed by a second from Kostya Cahill to make it 4 – 1 at the final whistle. Man of the match award went to Joe’s captain Dinny Farrell for a great display in midfield. We would like to thank all our supporters who came out in great numbers to support us and to New Oak for a sporting game.

St Joseph’s U12 hit form

This was a great cup tie which saw Joe’s come from behind twice to
edge out St Pats. The game saw both sides test each other out in the first 20 mins with St Pats taking the lead just before half-time. St Joe’s came out in the second half with some purpose and drew level through a goal from Koysta Cahill. St Pats hit back and went 2 -1 up 10 mins into the second half. A Thomas Sheehan header from a free kick put Joe’s back level again. St Josephs kicked on from this point and
two more goals from Kostya Cahill giving him a hat-trick sealed a deserved victory for St Joes. Others to play well for Joes were Jack Mitchell, Jack Holmes, Conor Hickson and Dinny Farrell.

we would really like to thank everyone for there great support parents and kids
